DHL!
I knew it was going to a while to get my saddle. I knew DHL sucked. None of this is news to me – I expected it. I wasn’t even surprised when my tracking number didn’t work for the first few days and DHL’s answer was “we don’t know, ask this other branch of DHL”. Thaaaaanks… fantastic customer service. Glad y’all are on the ball.
But even though I knew in advance that they sucked, it doesn’t mean I’m not going to whine about it sitting in Germany for week doing absolutely nothing. For real:

Yep, it came in on the 6th and went out on the 13th. This gives me so many sads. My poor little Devoucoux just sat there in it’s box for an entire week, in the dark, feeling unloved. It’s going to need therapy when it finally gets here.
Where is it now, you ask, 15 days into it’s journey? In the US! Now it’s officially in the hands of the USPS, another fine establishment that I have oh so much faith in. Could be a couple more days, could be a couple more weeks… who really knows? But it’s in San Francisco. Because Germany to San Francisco to Texas is the most logical route.

Inbound Into Customs |
Inbound into customs? 3 days after it’s processed into customs? WTF does that even mean? I give up.
It occurs to me now that I should have done a contest to see who could guess the actual arrival date. Winner gets a bottle of Xanax? C’mon USPS, prove me wrong for once!
Knowing my luck it’ll show up the day before I leave for Europe, because fate is a cruel mistress. To add insult to injury, my latest package from PS of Sweden will be here tomorrow. It left Sweden yesterday.
As an aside – I’m likely going to be selling my Frank Baines, assuming the Devoucoux works for us. I have a lot of accessories that I don’t need anymore either (as in – almost 2 whole extra bridles, a girth, a couple special pads, leathers, and irons)… does it appeal to you more as a buyer to have lots of accessories come with a saddle? Personally I’d rather lump it all together and get rid of it all at once rather than parse it out, even if it means getting less total money in the end, but I’m not sure if offering it as a package deal is going to be more or less appealing to buyers.
DHL and UPS are terrible at life. Fact.

Never had a problem with UPS or FedEx shipping internationally. UPS is PS of Sweden’s carrier and it’s always 2-3 days without fail and prompt tracking updates. DHL though… good god. Always awful.

Does ‘special pads’ happen to possibly include half pad type things with a wither relief cutout?

Sadly, no… it’s a couple of ECP memory foam correction dressage pads. Don’t need them anymore since I got a dressage Ogilvy.

I think a package deal will depend on the buyer and what they actually need. I’d probably offer it with or without the accessories. Or say if you buy the saddle, I’ll make you a really good deal on all these accessories, or the accessories of your choosing.
Did you buy the Hackamore bridle from PS of Sweden?
What colors for the dressage Ogilvy?
So many awesome purchases and so much waiting!!!

I didn’t buy the hackamore bridle. Yet. Got a throatlatch for showing dressage. And the dressage ogilvy is white with black binding and light blue piping, to coordinate with my coat.

Sometimes I think the tracking numbers make me even crazier than before we had tracking. I dunno.
I like buying stuff individually. I mix and match and am super cheap. So, that’s my 2 cents! 🙂

Seriously, I think tracking numbers make me way crazier.

crazier is a broad term 🙂

You have to find just the right buyer for a package deal, which makes the sell a little harder. Maybe sell the saddle with optional fittings and then do a package on the rest to see if a tack reseller will bite?

I MIGHT be interested in the package dressage deal, if I have any money when you decide to sell it. Keep me in the loop, please!

Will do. I should know within a few days of the Devoucoux’s arrival.

They are just really good at testing your patience skills. And your sanity. That’s all. Also, oooooo more PS things!

I am also frustrated with DHL.. waiting on an order from Calevo…. the tracking updates (or lack thereof) are infuriating!

just give up. DHL is the worst.

Good thing I didn’t order anything I actually need (in the literal sense )

I honestly don’t know how they’re still in business. Never once have I gotten anything through them that didn’t take forever. And the tracking updated whenever it felt like it. I think I got my last package before most of the updates actually hit! Is yours coming Express or Paket? Express is a bit better.

Paket…. OF COURSE lol. This is my first international purchase and DHL is raining on my parade

When I’m tack shopping, I’m rarely tempted by a package deal. I’m also not a huge tack shopper. Just my 2 cents!

maybe i’ll sell the saddle seperately and try to get someone else to buy a “lot” with everything else. There’s nothing I hate more than shipping stuff… I’d take less money just for the luxury of putting it all in one box!

I think that it just depends on the price. I know that I can always use more tack and if I get it cheaper with a saddle in a package deal, all the better. I hope the Devoucoux gets there soon. USPS bastards….
